Let me start with…there are some reviews you get that you like, there are even some you get that you don’t necessary like [they just don’t really work for your family], then there are ones you get that you LOVE! ** THIS ** is one of those…WE LOVE BRINKMAN ADVENTURES!! (Ok, now back to my “regularly scheduled review”. *grin*)
Have you ever heard of Brinkman Adventures? I know I hadn’t…until they came up for review with The Crew. I was SUPER EXCITED to get picked for this review ~ The Brinkman Adventures Season 2: Episodes 13-24. So what are “The Brinkman Adventures”? I’m so glad you asked! They are audio drama missionary stories that run about 26 minutes in length and are appropriate for the entire family (for the most part…there was one episode on the season we got that started out saying that parents needed to be present if the kids were under 10 years old). There are 12 episodes per season and there are currently two seasons available. (Season Three is currently being worked on.)
We received the downloadable version and listened to several as a family using the computer. I also downloaded them to our iPad and listened to them while driving. These audio dramas are WONDERFUL, AMAZING, AWESOME, RIVETING, CHALLENGING, FUN, EXCITING…shall I continue? They are wonderful!
This season contains stories about pirates, slaves, LONG bus rides with chickens…and more. The really neat thing about these is that you feel like you are right there with them and you also feel as if it is real life…you want to laugh and cry or get angry or confused, even possibly “scared” (ok, not really, but you get the point). The stories are easy to believe and understand but they also challenged me as a Christian wondering…”How big is my God”? (If you buy them and listen to these, you will understand.)
There are so many things that are interesting about The Brinkman Adventures…
- They are missionary journey adventures.
- They are based off real life experiences
- Brinkman roles are played by the actual Brinkman family.
- You can find out more and see real life pictures at The Brinkman Family site.
- You can watch short videos of some of the recordings on their site.
- The cost is a donation.
So…always an important part…what is the cost? The suggested donation for a season is $25 for physical cd’s or $17 for the download version…however…these are just donation suggestions…if you cannot afford to give that amount, you can give less. And…if you can afford to give more, you can give more. I LOVE THIS! This is, therefore, not keeping these out of the hands of those who may not be able to afford them…talk about walking the walk and not just talking the talk! Apparently “Brinkman Adventures” is also a missionary journey of its own! Praise be God – and to the Brinkman family!
If you would like to listen to a sample click HERE (but only do so if you plan to buy because after you listen…you WILL want to buy! *grin*) We will be buying every set that becomes available if they continue to be this good…we already purchased Season One!
