This is a very CUTE book! The words are written in a fairly large font so they stand out and are easy to read. Wally Waddlewater is the main character…we enjoyed his name as we read the book! It made us giggle!
The story is about Wally wanting to mail a letter to his grandmother and how he learns to cross the street properly on his journey to put the letter in the mailbox. Quite honestly, I think of this book often as I’m driving or crossing the street…look left, look right, look left again…it is neat how that sticks with you.
Often it is nice to have a fun way to help our children learn. Something that will help explain things “on their level” and in a way that they don’t even know they are learning. THIS is one of those books. My son and I were reading it and enjoying it and learning. Then when we went out to cross the street…guess what he said? Look left, look right. look left again. He really was listening – and learning!
Overall the book is enjoyable to read, look at AND it is a wonderful teaching tool. These three combined make it a WONDERFUL book! My 5-1/2 year old really enjoyed it…he even asked for us to read it again (the sign that he really enjoyed a book – which really doesn’t happen that often it seems).
We enjoyed it and would recommend it to others. It sells for $8.50 – so it won’t break the bank either (always a plus!).
Green Bark Press is a family owned company based in Pennsylvania. They take great care in the books they select to print and those they offer from others. The books must be…”original, colorful, imaginative, and have some value to add to the growth and learning process of young readers.” (As quoted from their website.) It is nice to have companies that are watching out for the best interest of our children when it comes to reading materials!
