Fourth of July Fireworks

First let me share that we live in a pretty small town…there are about 5,000 of us. Apparently this past Sunday was our parade and fireworks. Want to know how we found out it was our parade…you will NEVER guess…they set off the tornado sirens. Yes, yes they did. That to me was extremely shocking and VERY inappropriate. (I have a call in to the person I need to speak with about this as I sent my boys down to the basement and they were a bit freaked out – as kids get.)

Anyway, we got over that little moment and once the sun went down…we heard fireworks! Fortunately we live just outside of town to where we can watch them from our yard each year. (Apparently we need to do a better job of reading our local paper…as this is how we would find out about local happenings such as this).

Well, I tried to take some pictures of the amazing fireworks but my camera was too slow so I got a lot of blank / black screens and two actual fireworks pictures. LOL However, my oldest son was able to get two pretty good pictures on his camera.

Later today we will be heading over to my husband’s brothers house for a get together they have every year. Normally lots of fun for everyone (but especially the kids).

[As a side note, if you are looking for something to do with your kids to learn about this very important day in history, I did a 4th of July resource guest post over at the Schoolhouse Review Crew blog…go check it out!]

Have a wonderfully blessed 4th of July!

Dawn! So thrilled to meet a more seasoned homeschooler through the blog challenge! Ugh, tornado sirens for the holiday–I know the monthly test of ours makes me uncomfortable, even when I know it’s a test! Can’t wait to hear more from you!

Dawn: What great memories you are creating for your kids. I love the tornado sirens going off to signal the parade; that will definitely get the town’s attention. The firework pictures are just gorgeous.

Looking forward to hearing more about your get together.

Ah of course! It’s Independence Day in America! The tornado sirens must have been quite frightening! I imagine that they’re quite loud. (I remember being quite afraid of loud noises when I was small)
