“5 Days of Teaching Creatively” ~ Day 1 ~ Delight-Directed Teaching

As part of the Schoolhouse Review Crew, we are having a “5 Days of Teaching Creatively” blog hop this week. WOOT! Here is what you can look forward to reading about…

Today is “Delight-Directed Teaching“. Personally, I had to look up what this meant. 🙂 Basically it is taking a natural interest your child has – and studying it!

We have done this to some degree, but definitely not extensively. The main area we have done this would fall under Science and BUGS. Boys. Bugs. You get the message, right? *grin*

Since we don’t really “DO” Delight-Directed Teaching, I thought I would share a few places I found very interesting as I searched what “Delight-Directed Teaching” meant:

Here is a guest article by Lee Binz (The Homescholar) over at The Home School Mom titled Transcripts and Delight-Directed Learning. Some VERY useful information regarding tracking time and giving credits associated with this type of learning.

Walking by the Way has 10-days of Cultivating Curiosity that might give you some additional ideas about this.

Home Hearts has a short post on Delight-Directed Teaching but she also has some additional links you might find helpful.

Here is Lee Binz (The Homescholar) Delight Direct Pinterest board! (How fun!)

Now head over and check out all the other Schoolhouse Review Crew folks who posted about Delight-Directed Learning:
