I had the pleasure to review Joyful Momma’s Guide to Shopping & Cooking Frugally by Kimberly Eddy (see Joyful Momma’s Books & Resources) and OH.MY.GOSH – I.LOVED.THIS.BOOK! (So much so that I went and purchased one of her other books…but more on that later.) I have GREAT RESPECT for people who share what they have learned with others (and I have deep irritation and lack of respect for those who “hoard” what they have learned). I spent YEARS learning computer programs, all by myself, and am always MORE THAN HAPPY to share my knowledge with others…why make others suffer as I did? I’m sure they have other things they can spend their time figuring out. Ya know? Anyway, that was a squirrel moment…now back to the topic at hand – this AMAZING book!

This book covers such a large variety of things, it is absolutely wonderful! She not only talks about her life and their finances and how they have worked through things but it talks about couponing (which I am TOTALLY CLUELESS about), storing items, cooking & buying healthy (on a budget) as well as allergies on a budget. And there is more, believe it or not! She also talks about how to cook with items that are good to stock up on, filling and the price is right – she not only shares HOW she shops but WHAT she makes (yes, recipes included!). She gives great experienced thoughts on things like buying with cash (and what to do with what’s left over), planned snacking (so what you need to cook with doesn’t disappear) along with “time saving” ideas. There is so much in this book, it is hard to cover it all in a review…plus, I wouldn’t want to take away all the surprise. 🙂

I really cannot say enough about this book! And, I think one thing I REALLY ENJOYED was how it is written just like she is talking to me as her friend. Like I said in the beginning, I LOVED this book so much, I went and purchased another one of her books Joyful Momma’s Guide to Quiet Times in Loud Households which is about making time for the Lord each day. I’m excited to get this one now too!
