Ever heard of Apologia ~ LIVE!?

THIS IS NOT CURRICULUM!

I was a little confused Friday as I left town with two other homeschooling friends / moms / group leaders – and headed four hours away – to Chicago.  We were going to meet with some other homeschool moms, group leaders, bloggers – and some ladies from Apologia Live!  What exactly was Apologia Live! – was my question.  There was no doubt I’d heard of Apologia…I think anyone who has been in homeschooling for all of about a second has heard of Apologia…but what exactly was Apologia Live!?  THIS is what I wanted to know…and this is what we were going to find out.  🙂

My two lady friends and I decided to spend the night just outside of Chicago – as it is a four-hour drive, one way, for two of us and a 5-hour drive for another…so we decided to make it a “ladies nite out” – WOOT! And boy oh boy DID WE ALL NEED IT!  Being homeschooling moms / group leaders / bloggers…we, of course, brought work with us to do on the trip – however, I am SUPER GLAD to say – none of us got any of it done! We talked and laughed and ate food – it was wonderful!

This was an Indian wedding reception the Westin Chicago NW was just beginning to have attendees for as we were walking in for our meeting.  It was BEAUTIFUL!  Not only the hotel, the tables, the food…but the clothing of the attendees was AMAZING!

Lunch on Saturday was our designated time to spend with the other ladies and find out more about Apologia Live!  Our group ended up being rather small…there were some last minute plan changes and some sicknesses, etc but let me tell you – that did NOT stop us from having a TOTAL BLAST!  So, we spent some time eating and talking about something we all have great passion for – HOMESCHOOL MOMS.  (Know any of those?  Nah?  Yea right.  LOL  You are one, I’m sure – and I’m sure you know a BUNCH more!)

Well, I’m sure you also know / agree / understand / also feel – a bit isolated from other women / adults / homeschool moms, right?  I know I do!  I do not have the lady friends I used to have several years ago – and I miss it!  Praise the Lord for Apologia Live! as it is a RETREAT for HOMESCHOOL MOMS!  THE ONLY OF ITS KIND! It kind of reminds me of a Women of Faith type event, at least by what I’ve read and what the ladies shared at the luncheon.  The goal / vision of Apologia Live! is to bring spiritual encouragement to homeschool moms.  YOU HEARD ME RIGHT! let me say it again – SPIRITUAL ENCOURAGEMENT TO HOMESCHOOL MOMS.  WOOT!
